Comic #5
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: "Take On Me" by A-Ha (no, really. it's even the extended version)

If the comic looks different every time, that's because I'm still tweaking the style.  I started with simple detail and dot eyes, and went to circle+dot eyes.  I started with a 4 pixel brush, went to 1, and now I'm pretty happy with 2.  I have also gone from TwistedBrush to Photoshop CS2 to Photoshop CS4.  I like CS4 the most, but it's only got 3 weeks left in its trial -- and it's $700 retail.  Which is a bit steep for a program I only really want because I like its default brush tool.  I'm probably just going to plunk down some cash for the latest Correl paint -- a stripped down version, mind you.  I don't need a clone tool to paint doughnuts all over my images.

I want to express two forms of gratitude today.  First, I would like to mention the troops and the veterans.  It is Memorial Day today, and while in truth I really only know a handful of veterans, I still don't take the opportunity I should to thank them for what they've done.  I am not the most gung ho person about some of the things the United States has done/is doing, and am in fact fairly polar oppositely aligned to most of the lifestyle and opinion choices that would be considered normal, or even American.  But I greatly appreciate that I live in a country where disagreement of that sort may get me scowled at, but won't get me shot.  And even those scowlers tend to recognize the beauty of such freedom of choice.  Most of them anyhow.  I call the others "customers."

The second form of gratitude, which I hope does not seem diminished for following the previous, is toward my fans.  Some of you are personal friends, and I am no less grateful for your support in this project for that.  But many are members of the cyber community, as far away as Australia (they love me in Perth!), which I think geographically is about as far from the US as possible.  Other than like...Skylab.  So I appreciate all the support and positive feedback I've been getting.  I hope you'll continue to come to the site and enjoy what I'm offering up on here.

So thanks.  Bunches and oodles.  Thanks :)

Seriously
Mood:  hungry
Now Playing: There's some birds chirping outside

Like seriously, the cashier?  I see it every day...someone has a problem with the price of something at the store, and they come to check out demanding an explanation of the price.  They're barking at some kid who makes minimum wage, and couldn't care about your quoibles with the price if he tried, as though he's got anything to do with the pricing in the store, let alone the pricing of various products provided by corporate vendors.  Want to know why your socks cost so much?  Call the sock company.

They're not going to answer.

Communication
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: "Illumination of the Heart" by Deuter

This being the first post to the blog on my website, I want to take the opportunity to encourage any and all visitors to the site to use this tool to share retail horror stories, comment on the comic du jour (whether you like it or not), and communicate in any way that is at least arguably fitting for the site's theme and content.

For my part, I will try to share insight into the latest comic's inspiration (though in many cases, no explanation will be necessary), and give general updates into the state of customer sanity from my own lonely, soul-destroying post in the retail world.

Please enjoy the site, and don't forget to click one some of the sponsors!  Websites do cost money, after all!
